The Journey

Andrea Bueno

My name is Andrea Bueno Arreola, I am 13 years old and I was born in Watsonville, California. I have been in Tae Kwon Do since I was 5. My brother and sister were in karate, but they never got their black belt so I want to finish it. I started at Pleasant Oaks Recreation Center with Mr. Walker. I love sparring! That is why I am at Grand Master Park's studio. I have learned so much in his class that I went back to my old tournament with my teacher Mr. Walker and I won 1st place thanks to Grand Master Park! There has been so many times I just wanted to quit, but I didn’t because of the sign, "Quitters never win... winners never quit." LET’S GO BLACK BELTS!

What I like about Grand Master Park's class is that you have to never give up and achieve your goals. I have a lot of help from a lot of the other black belts. They make sure everything is perfect. I felt it was hard to just start where I left off in Grand Master Park's studio, but little by little, I caught on and now the black belt test is here. It is one of the dreams I always wanted to accomplish because of my cousin, Lily. She is a 3rd degree black belt. She is my role model. I have gone through tough times in karate, winning, losing and practicing, but it’s all worth it. It may just be a belt, but it’s a goal, a dream, and an achievement.

There were times when class was difficult for me. I would cry because I thought the teacher was too hard on me or that I wasn’t flexible like other black belts. Those times I wanted to quit. From now on, I know Grand Master Park is a one of the best teachers I have ever known in my whole entire life and I was for sure that I will pass the black belt test with confidence, accuracy, and courage. Once again, I would like to thank one of the best teachers I know, Grand Master Park for helping me achieve one of these goals in my life.

I have dreamt of the day when I get my black belt in martial arts, I would be in the studio and my whole family would be taking up space to see me get my black belt. My mom, dad, sister, brother, and baby niece would be right there supporting me in this achievement. To me, it is like a fairy tale dream that is about to come true.
